Hemp has been cultivated for over 10,000 years. Fibre from stalks can be used in making paper, textiles, rope or twine, and construction materials. Grain from industrial hemp can be used in food products, cosmetics, plastics and fuel.

Because hemp is classified taxonomically as Cannabis sativa, Canada’s hemp production is regulated by Health Canada. Carpere is working with licensed producers and manufacturers to capture the extensive benefits of this diverse crop. Our teams of researchers, together with our industry partners, are advancing techniques for breeding, planting, processing and extraction.

Hemp Farms
Canada’s soil and environmental conditions are ideal for the growth of hemp. Carpere has partnered with local producers in Saskatchewan and Manitoba who are licensed to grow and harvest the hemp plant. Once harvested, the hemp plant and seeds become raw materials for a variety of uses.

Nutrition
Hemp fatty acid and amino acid profiles are identically aligned with human DNA. As a food source, hemp offers protein, omegas and dietary fiber in perfect proportions to our nutritional needs.

Highlights

  • Hemp is naturally gluten free, non GMO, free of trypsin inhibitors, dairy free and virtually free of any form of residual chemicals.
  • Hemp protein is highly nutritious and easily digested.
  • Cold pressed hemp seed oil retains its natural nutritional value and offers a perfect balance of Omega 3-6-9.
  • Hemp seed also provides an excellent source of digestible fibre.
  • We are developing a variety of consumer products to bring these dietary benefits of hemp to the market.

Health
There are several cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. CBD is one of the cannabinoids extracted from hemp. Unlike cannabis, CBD does not create any mind-altering effects, making it an attractive alternative for health and medical applications.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil.

Based on preliminary scientific testing and results, industrial hemp contains important building blocks that could have beneficial impacts in the treatment of some medical conditions. CBD oil is now becoming a popular natural remedy for common ailments such as treating chronic pain, anxiety, memory, sleep and other disorders.

Carpere has entered into a joint venture with a licensed partner to create broad spectrum CBD oil.

Our current project includes transforming 400,000 pounds of biomass with industry leading extraction equipment. The process is creating 5 kilograms of broad spectrum CBD oil per day.

Industrial
Hemp offers many different uses that can promote a more sustainable world. Hemp products can be recycled, reused and are 100% biodegradable.

The hemp plant provides the strongest, most durable, longest lasting, natural, soft fibres compared to alternative sources. Its flexible characteristics provide durable clothing, shelter, building materials and common everyday items. Hemp fibre has been proven to be an excellent natural insulator.

It has applications as a high quality pressboard material, hempcrete, composite and plastic substrate product. Hemp is also being developed as a superior alternative to graphene, a supercapacitor energy storage technology used to power electronic devices.

From nutrition and health to sustainable building products, Industrial hemp represents significant value for producers, processors, consumers and the economy in general.
